Amaro looks like it came out of the best corner of a dark bar: a black genuine leather armchair wrapped in satin stainless steel tube. A thick satin steel tube runs around the body from end to end and turns into the arms, and a black leather seat and back cushion sit inside it. A midcentury design armchair that takes a bit from the Bauhaus and a bit from the lounge chairs of the 70s.
The frame is what you notice first: a thick tube that bends once into the arm and then into the leg. There is nothing hidden here; Amaro likes to show how it is made. The satin surface does not shine, it softens the light. Next to black leather it makes a contrast that is dignified rather than harsh.
Turn it around and there is a surprise: the back is attached to the steel tubes with five riveted leather straps. You do not have to push it against a wall; put it in the middle of a room and the back looks as good as the front.
The seat is thick and rounded, the back cushion leans back a little. It is the kind you do not want to get up from. A small side table next to it, a few records on the floor, a dark wood panel on the wall: it fits right in. Standing alone in a plain white room it brings its own mood just as well.
Black leather softens over the years, takes the shape of whoever sits, and small marks become part of its character. The steel does not move.
Due to boutique production, dimensions may vary slightly.
